Guitar Scale

The Guitar Scale Mastery System – Review
What is a guitar scale? Simply put, it is the set of notes that “fit” with whatever song you have to be playing. It’s not always easy as it may sound since many songs frequently change keys – sometimes in a very rapid fashion (especially progressive rock and jazz). If you’ve ever stumbled around trying to “find” the correct scale, only to have it suddenly change on you, then you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
The Guitar Scale Mastery System was created by Craig Bassett to fulfill a need among serious guitarists – to easily learn and master guitar scales. His system is based on what could be called “the five pillars of fretwork” – ears, eyes, fingers, intellect, and application. His theories are simple, yet dynamic.
Ears – being able to “hear” in your mind what the scale should sound like.
Eyes – being able to visualize what the scale should “look” like over the entire fretboard. Wouldn’t it be nice to automatically know which fret on each string matches (or is an octave above or below) a fret on another string? To be able to “see” it without looking?
Fingers – your technique, and how to apply your technique anywhere on the fretboard.
Intellect – your mental understanding of the scale -what notes are in the scale, how they relate to each other (degree), and where the scale can and should be used.
Application – how to use the scale in a musical fashion. How to make it sound good.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Craig’s system is that it doesn’t just tell you “what” to learn (as so many other courses do), but it also shows you “how” to learn. Once you learn the “how”, the “what” comes easily.
